JAMB Sets May 11 for 2026 Policy Meeting – Education Minister to Drop Major Admission Bombshells

 


The countdown to the next academic admission cycle has officially begun.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the highly anticipated 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions will hold on May 11, 2026, at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Jabi, Abuja.

This year’s meeting promises to be particularly significant, as the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, is expected to unveil key policy directions that will shape tertiary admissions nationwide.

What’s at stake?

At the annual policy meeting, stakeholders decide:

  • Minimum acceptable UTME scores (cut-off marks)

  • Admission guidelines for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education

  • Policy enforcement rules for the upcoming 2026/2027 session

The meeting officially kicks off the admission season and reinforces strict compliance with established guidelines.

  • Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts

  • Registrars and Admissions Officers

  • Regulatory bodies: NUC, NCCE, NBTE

  • Key agencies like NELFUND and NYSC (expected to deliver goodwill messages)

Also on the agenda: 6th NATAP-M Awards

The National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M) will hold its 6th edition. The awards celebrate institutions and individuals who have shown integrity, transparency, and innovation in adhering to admission guidelines – contributing significantly to Nigeria’s tertiary education development.
