Abuja, Nigeria – The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has officially announced the date and venue for the 2026 June Expatriate and Professional Examination, a mandatory assessment for engineering professionals seeking regulatory compliance and registration in the country.
According to a statement released by the Council, the examination is scheduled to hold from Monday, 8th June, to Tuesday, 9th June, 2026, in Kano State.
This examination serves as a critical gateway for both expatriate engineers wishing to practice in Nigeria and local engineering professionals who have not yet completed the registration process. Successful performance in the exam demonstrates competence, adherence to local engineering standards, and a commitment to ethical practice as defined by COREN.
“This examination is a key step for engineering professionals and expatriates seeking registration and compliance with COREN standards,” the Council noted in its announcement. Eligible candidates have been urged to begin their preparations early and ensure all prerequisite documentation and requirements are fulfilled ahead of the examination window.
COREN, established by Act Cap E11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, is responsible for regulating the engineering profession at all levels. The Council has consistently emphasised that no expatriate or local engineer is permitted to offer engineering services in Nigeria without first obtaining the necessary COREN registration, which this examination facilitates.
While specific application deadlines and detailed registration guidelines are yet to be released, prospective candidates are advised to regularly visit the official COREN website or contact the Council’s registration department for updates. The venue in Kano State will be communicated to registered candidates closer to the examination date.
