ABUJA — In a major relief for prospective tertiary education candidates, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a strategic collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to introduce a dedicated NIN Alignment Service.
The new initiative is designed to help eligible candidates resolve discrepancies between their academic records held by JAMB and their national identity information.
According to a public notice released by the Board, the service specifically addresses mismatches in four critical biodata fields: Names, Date of Birth, Gender, and State/LGA of Origin.
A One-Time Opportunity
The Board has emphasized that this window is a strictly one-time opportunity. Candidates are warned that subsequent requests for alignment may not be entertained after this exercise concludes.
"Submission does not guarantee approval," JAMB cautioned in the statement. "Candidates must ensure they select all fields requiring alignment before submission."
How to Apply
To ensure a seamless process, JAMB has outlined a four-step procedure for candidates:
Update Your NIN: Candidates must first visit a NIMC office to correct their biodata. JAMB cannot align records if the primary data at NIMC is incorrect.
Verify Your Identity: Applicants are required to use the NINAuth app to verify their details and obtain a share code.
Visit a JAMB Office: With the share code in hand, candidates must visit a JAMB office for biometric capture and the actual alignment of records.
Confirm Your Details: Before completing the process, candidates are urged to carefully confirm that their updated biodata is accurate.
Important Guidelines for Candidates
The Board has provided strict instructions to avoid disqualification or rejection:
Correction First: Correct your details with NIMC before applying.
Follow Protocol: Strictly adhere to the application steps on the JAMB e-Facility.
Double Check: Verify information carefully before submitting, as this is a final opportunity.
Candidates are advised to watch their emails for their application status. JAMB expressed appreciation to NIMC for its sustained support and innovation in providing more efficient service to candidates through the #J-CARE initiative.
