The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reaffirmed the credibility and integrity of the recently released 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates, insisting that the examination was conducted and graded under the same rigorous standards that have guided the Council for decades.
In a press release issued on Thursday by its Public Affairs Department, WAEC expressed concern over the growing wave of public commentary, particularly from content creators and social media commentators, questioning the accuracy and reliability of the 2026 examination results.
The Council said it welcomes constructive scrutiny as part of its accountability to candidates, parents, schools, and the general public, but stressed that the claims circulating online should not undermine confidence in its established assessment processes.
According to WAEC, the 2026 WASSCE was conducted strictly in accordance with its standard operational procedures and relevant educational policies in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.
The examination body noted that while anxiety over examination outcomes is understandable—especially among candidates seeking admission into higher institutions—members of the public should avoid spreading or relying on unverified claims regarding the released results.

WAEC Explains Quality Assurance Process
To reassure candidates and stakeholders, WAEC outlined the key safeguards built into its examination and grading process.
The Council stated that every candidate’s script undergoes a multi-tiered system of marking, moderation, and auditing, guided by standardized marking schemes and supervised by vetted subject experts to ensure objectivity and fairness.
WAEC also highlighted its transparent review and query resolution procedures, noting that candidates with concerns about their results can access official complaint channels through its offices nationwide and online platforms.
The Council urged the public to rely only on verified information disseminated through its official website, www.waecnigeria.org, and its verified social media accounts on X and Facebook, @waecnigeria.
Public Advised to Ignore Social Media Speculation
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its assessment system, WAEC advised Nigerians to refrain from amplifying unverified social media reports and instead seek clarification directly from the Council through its official communication channels.
