The Ogun State Government has officially constituted an Administrative Body to oversee the management of both administrative and traditional responsibilities in Ijebu Ode during the transition period, pending the installation of a new Awujale.

In line with the historical and traditional governance structure of Ijebu Ode, the newly formed body is tasked with ensuring stability, continuity, and the preservation of cultural values throughout this period.

BREAKING: FG approves first female-only University

BREAKING: FG has approved Tazkiyah University, the first female-only university in Nigeria, founded by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja.

Situated in Zaria, Kaduna State, the university is designed exclusively for women and may also operate with an all-female academic staff—making it the first of its kind in the country.

Prof. Maqari disclosed that all profits generated from the institution will be channeled into a fund dedicated to supporting orphans.

Tazkiyah is one of nine newly accredited private universities by the NUC, with plans to relocate its permanent campus to Kaduna city in the future.

Communique Issued at the end of the 102nd Meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Today, Monday, 25th August, 2025

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its 102nd meeting today, Monday, 25th August, 2025 further deliberated on the state of the Party and resolved as follows:

1. NEC expressed satisfaction over the level of preparedness of the Party at its various Organs, Chapters and Structures for the 2025 Elective National Convention scheduled for Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital on Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th November 2025.

2. NEC acknowledged with satisfaction the efforts and commitment of PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly Caucus and other relevant bodies of the Party towards the success of the forthcoming 2025 National Convention at Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

3. NEC received and after extensive deliberation approved the report of the National Convention Zoning Committee which recommended as follows:

(a) That all PDP National Office positions currently in the Northern Region of the country remain in the Northern Region. 

(b) That all PDP National Office positions currently in the Southern Region of the country remain in the Southern Region. 

(c) That having retained the position of the National Chairman in the Northern Region of the country, the Presidential Candidate of the Party for the 2027 General Election is hereby zoned to the Southern Region.

(d) That the Regions should immediately micro-zone positions within its Region for implementation.

4. NEC also received update from the PDP Constitution Amendment Committee and directed the Committee to circulate the Draft Constitution Amendment to various Organs and Chapters of the Party for further inputs.

5. In recognition of the efforts of the National Working Committee (NWC) under the leadership of the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Iliya Umar Damagum in stabilizing the Party, NEC hereby ratifies and confirms the appointment of Amb. Iliya Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the Party with effect from today, Monday, 25th August, 2025 until the National Convention holding at Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital on 15th to 16th November, 2025.

6. NEC condemns the resort by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to State Capture through state-backed intimidation, manipulation, inducement, coercion and violence against Nigerians as witnessed in APC’s muzzling of the recent bye-elections in parts of the country.

7. NEC particularly expressed dismay and condemned the militarization of the recent bye-elections especially in Kaduna and Taraba States as well as Zamfara State where excessive security agencies were deployed in the conduct of run-off election in only five Polling Units in Kaura Namoda South State Constituency.

8. NEC declares that this action by the APC is a confirmation of APC’s desire to turn our country into a totalitarian One-Party State which is a clear and present danger to democracy and the corporate existence of our country.

9. NEC reassures Nigerians of PDP’s commitment to Democracy and the defense of the interest and wellbeing of all citizens as we work hard to further reposition our Party to regain power in 2027.

In a groundbreaking move to redefine urban mobility and traffic governance in Lagos, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched the “Media Traffic Mayor” initiative, inducting notable media practitioners as Traffic Mayors.

The initiative, inaugurated under the leadership of Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of LASTMA, seeks to harness the influence of the media to support enforcement efforts, promote voluntary compliance, and entrench a culture of discipline on Lagos roads.

Tinubu Orders Halt on Shoreline and Coastal Developments, Pending Proper Survey Coordination

In a decisive move to safeguard Nigeria’s coastal assets and federal infrastructure, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a sweeping suspension of all approvals and developments along Federal Highways, shorelines, coastal roads, islands, and lagoon areas across the country.

The directive, issued on July 30, 2025, is part of the President’s effort to enforce stricter compliance with the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure Policy (NGDI) and to protect federal legacy infrastructure from uncoordinated and unlawful encroachments.

According to a statement signed by the Surveyor-General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Abduganiyu A. Adebomehin (FNIS, FCE), the government has placed a moratorium on all requests for documentation related to shoreline and coastal developments. Effective immediately, any development encroaching on the Federal Right of Way or undertaken without proper survey coordination will be demolished.

The directive also suspends the issuance of Allocations and Certificates of Occupancy on island and lagoon developments until they are reviewed and properly aligned with the federal infrastructural master plan.

Furthermore, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has been ordered to collate and submit all prior approvals granted to individuals or businesses to the Presidency through the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF). NIWA is also expected to cease issuing such approvals henceforth.

The Surveyor-General emphasized that under the Survey Coordination Act, Cap S13, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, OSGOF remains the legally mandated institution responsible for regulating, standardizing, and harmonizing survey activities nationwide. Any existing or backdated approvals not sanctioned by the Presidency through OSGOF, he warned, are liable to revocation at the President’s directive. 

The Federal Government urged the public, developers, and corporate entities to comply strictly with the new order to avoid demolition, revocation, or legal consequences.

“This directive is to ensure that Nigeria’s infrastructural development is orderly, coordinated, and sustainable, while preventing distortions to the Federal Infrastructural Master Plan,” the statement read. 

With this landmark decision, the Tinubu administration signals a tough stance on irregular shoreline and coastal land allocations, aiming to protect federal assets, promote sustainable development, and reinforce the authority of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation as the custodian of Nigeria’s geospatial data.

In view of the Presidential Directive issued by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 30th, 2025, regarding issues and approvals on all Federal Highways, Shorelines, Coastal Roads, Island and Lagoon Developments, Federal Legacy Infrastructure, the General Public is invited to note the following;

NAFDAC alerts public on counterfeit Cowbell milk in circulation (See Photos)

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is informing the public of the presence of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet milk circulating in Nigeria.

Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, which is the Marketing Authorization Holder and manufacturer of Cowbell “Our Milk” informed the agency about the existence of product bearing a close resemblance to the genuine Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet Milk. This includes unauthorized use of the brand name, packaging design, NAFDAC registration number, and trademark. The MAH has confirmed that these products are neither manufactured or distributed by them as the counterfeit packaging design was last used for production by the company in September 2023.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology Expert Caution Female Students Against Egg Donation

 

A Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Ilorin, Hadijat Olaide Raji, has cautioned female students against the rising trend of egg donation, warning them of its potential health and ethical implications. 

Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in her office last Tuesday (August 12, 2025), Prof. Raji noted that while the procedure is often presented as a quick means of earning money, it portends negative consequences that many students may be unaware of. 

Prof. Raji explained that egg donation involves hormonal stimulation, which occasionally could lead to complications such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) ,which may cause symptoms ranging from mild to severe and even life threatening symptoms.

The don urged students to seek proper medical guidance and critically evaluate the emotional, physical and psychological consequences before considering such steps. 

Egg donation is a process whereby a female patient (egg donor) gives eggs to another female (recipient) to allow the recipient to have a baby. To donate eggs, the donor must be given medications to develop multiple eggs over a single cycle.

The medical scholar also called on the University Health Services Unit, student groups, and relevant government agencies to intensify education on reproductive health and the ethics surrounding egg donation, noting that “Our students must understand that their health and future well-being are far more valuable than any immediate financial gain.”

Beyond the caution on egg donation, the don advised female students to prioritise their overall wellness while on campus. 

She encouraged healthy eating habits, avoidance of excessive junk food, drinking plenty of water, and steering clear of carbonated drinks.  

She also highlighted the importance of regular exercise, developing healthy relationships, and ensuring an average of eight hours of sleep per night. 

The lecturer further urged students to get accurate health information on diverse topics such as reproductive health, breast and cervical cancer prevention, and avoid risky sexual behaviours, including multiple or high-risk sexual partners.

Prof. Raji recommended the ABC approach to preventing sexually transmitted infections: abstinence from sex, being faithful to one partner, and use of condoms.  

She advised students to shun drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse. She also urged them to promptly visit the University Clinic for any health concern.
