BBNaija Winner Phyna Mourns as Sister Ruth Otabor Dies Weeks After Tragic Accident

The family of reality TV star Ijeoma "Phyna" Otabor is in mourning following the death of her sister, Ruth Otabor, who passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025. The news was confirmed in a statement released by the family's solicitors, Eko Solicitors & Advocates, and shared by Phyna on her social media channels.

Ruth's death comes weeks after she was involved in a devastating accident on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State. According to reports, she was hit by a truck linked to the Dangote Group, which resulted in severe leg injuries. Her leg was later amputated due to the extent of the damage.

The accident occurred just six days after Ruth's graduation from the polytechnic, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking for her family.

Family Seeks Privacy

In the official statement, the family announced that Ruth "passed on to glory on this 31st Day of August, 2025, at about 06:30Hrs." They also appealed for privacy during this difficult time of grief. The statement concluded by noting that funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public at a later date.

Following the initial accident, Phyna had used her platform to demand justice for her sister, accusing the company of negligence. The incident had sparked widespread public outrage and a call for accountability. The Dangote Group had previously acknowledged the incident and pledged to provide support for Ruth's medical care and compensation.

Our thoughts are with Phyna and her family as they navigate this immense loss.
